The Gefen 2x1 DVI KVM DL Switcher allows you to easily switch between two cross-platform dual link DVI computers using just one dual link DVI display and USB 2.0 keyboard and mouse. Dual link DVI describes the use of all 24 pins of the DVI connector to achieve mega high video resolutions up to 3840x2400. USB 2.0, also known as hi-speed USB, is the next generation of USB capable of sending data significantly quicker than before. Stereo audio is routed through along with the video to the display. Audio, video and control signals are "switched" for each computer upon selection, providing you with an easy and effective method of accessing two computers from one workstation without the hassle of networking. You simply connect your dual link DVI display and USB 2.0 keyboard/mouse to the Switcher's outputs. Then you connect both computers' dual link DVI, USB and audio ports to the Switcher's inputs using the supplied cables. From there, you select the computer you want using the IR remote that comes with the unit or with any contact closure remote control. It allows you to choose between a Macintosh or PC keyboard/video/mouse combination. High Quality Product
Got this today and was very impressed by the packaging and quality of the product. The KVMs I have seen and used in the past by other companies don't compare in build quality to the Gefen. I've read lots of positive reviews, but cant speak to the other reviewers issues. All I wanted was a nice KVM switch with the capability to drive a 30 inch monitor when I upgrade since I switch between a PC and Mac on a regular basis. Works exactly as advertised, however I did not test the audio portion simply because I run optical audio instead of stereo. Personally I wish Gefen would make a model without the audio (hopefully at a lower price point) portion or even a digital audio version, but this works wonderfully.

do not buy if you want audio to switch usably
the video switch works great. but for $350 one would think you could switch the audio without so much noise rendering this feature unusable.
IR remote is great. Color of equipment is horrible. Oddly enough the DVI channels are not lined up with the audio channels, guaranteed to trip anyone on autopilot hooking this up.
contacted gefen, and they said this was a problem in the older models and you had to get inside the equipment to adjust the equalizer. These new models are meant to do it automatically.
